Acrylics and Pastels are not the only mediums that I work in, but they certainly have been the most important, and my most consistent mediums. I began using acrylics in the early sixtys at the University of Iowa in place of oil paint, and have loved them ever since. I originally began using pastels to do plein aire studies for my acrylic paintings. I discovered almost immediately a love for pastel that precluded their use only for studies. The two remain my mainstays.
